Need some tips on the equipment you will be needing for your event?

Projector Tips:

Brightness Tips

  • If you are intending on lowering the lights for your presentation or video, then you do not need a brighter projector (unless the image size will be very large.)
  • For a high ambient light room, a righter projector will be needed, or the image will be dulled.
  • You can use a lower brightness projector if the area where the image is being projected had the lights dimmed or out.
  • Projectors do not project black, regardless of their brightness, so this should be a consideration when projecting in a very bright setting.

Contrast Tips

  • All projectors have a contrast ratio which describes the range between full white and full black in the projection.
  • For data projections, a low contrast ration works well.
  • For Video or photographic projections, a higher contrast works better, as detail at the white and black end other spectrum is better detailed.
  • Our best projectors for video and photographic are the ASK A4 for low cost SVGA and the Plus UP-1100 or Proxima DX6850 for XGA resolutions.
  • The darker the room, the better the contrast detail will be apparent

Resolution Tips

  • The higher the resolution, the better the image will appear.
  • Increase resolution sharpness for video is more obvious with DVDs than with video tape.
  • Powerpoint presentations require a minimum of SVGA resolution, and typically look better, and much sharper at XGA resolution.  The greater the detail in your presentation, the more you are likely to need a higher resolution.
  • Compression down from XGA to SVGA generally results in a poorer image than  XGA or compression from SXGA to XGA.
  • All our projectors are progressive scan, so you don’t have to worry about the image flickering.
  • The larger the projected the image, the more noticeable the pixels will be, so an XGA much projector is better for extremely large projections

Placement and Screen Size Tips

  • Typically a projector needs a range of 1.6 times the size of the impage projected.  For example, to fill a 10' diagonal screen, a projector needs to be at leat 16 feet from the screen.
  • The projector projects in a cone, so keep that in mind for seating arrangments between the projector and the screen.
  • Most projectors have keystoning - which allows an undistored image even if the projector is pointe dup at a sharp angle.
  • lower lighting provides a better image and can be spcifically where the screen is, while leaving light on in the rest of your room or hall.
